WOMEN: stop playing a victim to body image issues.
Own your problems. Don’t blame the media, or celebrities, or your “skinny” friends, or the food you ate last night, or the too many drinks you had. These things will ALWAYS be a part of your life just like the air you breathe, but unlike breathing, you can ACTIVELY choose to not listen to the outside noise. You know what I’m talking about. This sort of coveting turns into self loathing. You CAN choose to love yourself, no matter what someone else looks like. You can eat whatever you want and make healthy changes AND not blame your body for your choices. Your body should not be an apology. You NEVER have to compare yourself, even though your mind will try to tell you otherwise. Everything about you, every little bit of you was created or sustained by you and the lies you tell yourself everyday, why you don’t think you’re worth it, why you don’t think you look the way you should, or why you’re not pretty. Change what you tell yourself. Love yourself. Believe in yourself. You’re a fucking miracle, but you don’t treat yourself like one. Stop hating yourself just because you believe there’s someone else out there who’s hotter or skinnier than you. It may be time to start appreciating all the beauty that’s out there instead of coveting it. Begin embracing those other shapes you admire, know your own strength, and never forget that your own beauty is appreciated by someone… and that someone better be you.
